Play area designers

We have worked for local authorities, schools and community groups to provide landscape design and layout for play areas.

Projects range from traditional play equipment, nursery and toddler play areas, junior and teen play areas with specialist safety surfacing, to natural play. Junior Play AreaMulti-activity play unit with rubber play safe surfacing and good use of colour.

Play area design

Toddler Play EquipmentToddler play equipment with bark chip surfacing. Careful consideration must be given to fall height, safety surfacing and circulation area for each piece of play equipment. Rubber play surfacing is available in a wide range of colours. Other surfaces such as grass, bark chips and sand may also be suitable.

Some multi-play units can cater for a range of activities and age groups.

Play areas are designed to meet current British and European Standards for play equipment and surfacing, and Play England guidelines for natural play areas.

We can help you mange and reduce risks in play provision, and we can organise play equipment testing and inspections.

Multi-use games areas (MUGA)

Multi-Use Games CourtMulti-use games court with rubber polymeric surface. Games courts are designed to be robust and to perform when bad weather would put grass alternatives out of use.

Multi-use games areas (MUGA's) can cater for several activities within the same area and a range of surfaces area available to increase performance.

Related services include working with current European Play Standards, community consultation, play inspections and testing.

Recreation and leisure

We can plan and design landscape for other recreation facilities such as long distance footpaths, cycleways and bridleways, parks, formal and informal recreation areas.

We can also help with planning applications and approvals where schemes run through protected and sensitive landscape areas, and help with the choice of surfacing, access control barriers, signage and interpretation panels.
